THE SENIOR CLASSIC From the Principal: HE soundest advice I can give you is that you pattern your ideas and fashion your deeds after those of the best teachers and students you have met on your way through this school. Who are these best? I should say they are those who are self-motivated, that is to say those who give to the doing of any work in which they are engaged, a zeal and a loyalty that grows in them and comes from them: no one can generate it except themselves. They move by their own powerg they travel under their own steam. Their highest reward is their own interest and joy in doing things worth doing. Nobody can ever measure the amount, the quantity of this quiet. loyal effort that is given to the work of a school beyond the limits for which there is tangible compensation, but we all know that it is tremendous. l am sure that it is constructive and valuable beyond price or statement and I welcome this opportunity to record my own gratitude for it and to commend most sincerely all those engaged in it. It is, therefore, with full confidence that I recommend to young people the recognition in themselves and the continuous development of this faith- fulness to the best in themselves and in those with whom they associate. Combine this with a faithfulness to the iob itself, a joyous pitching into the doing of whatever there is to be done in the best way you can do it, and an ability to get things going and keep them going until, you reach the place you set out to reach, and you have as reliable a formula as I can think of for making headway in a troubled world. Finally, please remember that our interest in you does not cease with your graduation. The reputation for school is in your keeping for the rest of your lives. We will always be proud of your successes and grieved if misfortune hurts you. Every effort will be made to make your future con- tacts with this school genuine. lf there is any way that any of us can ever be of use to you, do not hesitate to indicate it.
