E is for Every faculty member, F is for Fleck, former Class Nite director, is for Gross, a teacher who, too, did his share ln making commencement a memorable affair. is for Hasluck, our dear yearbook advisor, Whose helpful criticisms have made us much wiser. -yes indeed, I do think great praise and commendation Should be given to Mr. Shea of the administration. is for jackson, Dr. Schwartz's confrere, Modern language department duties they share. is for Krugman, basketball coach, For his good work we have no reproach. is for Levine, with a doctor's degree, He's a swell Eco. teacher we all agree. is for Miranda, whom we'll remember long, For rehearsing with us our graduation song. is for Natkin, who holds us spell-bound When economic problems she does expound. is for 0'Leary, at the very top is she, Of the department of C-irls' hygiene and P. T. is for Primoff, who calculates amounts Deposited in our school bank' accounts. is for Question, there surely cannot be one, About the good work, Mr. Loughran, our principal has done. is for Readyoff, head of the board, Of scholarships and honor awards. is for Saphier, whose sense of propriety, ls a guiding light for the Arista society. is for Tarr, he's chief of the force, Which acts as policemen-marshals of course. is for Weiner, who sure gets our praise, For aiding the Classic in many, many ways. is for Zimmerman, a favorite teacher, He leads the Institute of which he's a feature. NO. l. jANUARY, l937 PAGE I9 Grads Make Merry At Park-Central Supper - Dance Tilden Troubadors Swing For Seniors--Dress Clothes Were Optional Contrary to the usual prom, ISO Seniors not only tripped it on the light fantastic toe to the strains of the Tilden Troubadors, but also partook of a supper de luxe at the Park Central Hotel on january 22. Realizing that a supper-dance would be more economical for them and their confreres, the boys on the Prom Committee decided to have that type of an affair, rather than a prom. Formal clothing predominated despite the fact that students could wear either formal or semi-formal dress. Tickets were priced at 53.80 per couple. GRADUATION EXERCISES IANUARY 27: DR. NEUMAN T0?BE GUEST SPEAKER 'The Ghost Story' Haun ts Class Nite Class Nite this term consisted of the presen- tation of Booth Tarking- ton's The Ghost Story. The play was presented, once on December 4. Heading the cast was Bernard Wa l l sh as George and Adele Hodes as Anna. The rest of the pro- gram consisted of novelty acts topped off by a Truckin' routine. Mae Siegel, Best Dancer, led a chorus of eight. RED RAMPAN T ON RED LETTER DAY 665 Seniors lfore Scarlet-Iiued Bows and Ties- Rell Carnations Given Free In Ojiicial Period Parading through the build- ing, bedecked in bright crimson bows and flowing scarlet ties, the 650 girls and boys of the Senior Class of january '37, celebrated their semi-annual Red Letter Day on November 25th. The students looked still brighter when after the offi- cial period they all appeared with red carnations. Another bright feature of that hectic day was the Red Letter Hop held in the Girls' Gym that evening. Not reveal- ing the secret they had in store, the Senior Class officers very much surprised the seniors when they were presented with red lollypops at the door. The Tilden Troubadors provided music red, hot and blue. With the final strains of Good Night Sweetheart, came the departure of those who had attended one of the most profitable of the Senior affairs. It was estimated that a profit , of S20 was made. Exercises To Be Held At B'klyn Tech Auditorium-Seventy Awards To Be Made The Senior Class, january l937, will hold its Commence- ment exercises on Wednesday evening, january 27. Cere- monies are scheduled to begin at eight o'clock and will take place at Brooklyn Technical High School. Guest speaker for the even- ing will be Dr. HGDYY Neuman of the Ethical Culture School. Mr. Readyoff, who heads the Scholarship Committee, an- nounces that approximately Sev- enty awards will be made. The entire graduating class numb2rS 665. Minnie Dollinger and Richard Scalletar, who have the highest' averages of the entire gradual'- ing class, will act as salutatorian and valedictorian, respectively. Mr. Miranda will direct the orchestra and the graduates will sing joaquin Miller's beautiful selection, Columbus. ,.i..1 Farewell Dance-jan. 28 Last function of the Senior Class will be held at the Boys' Gym on january 28, immedi- ately following Commencement. The Tilden Troubadors will swing for t-he Seniors while they dance and sign .9r'ninir Classics. Admission will be your gown. Page N meteen
