TILDEN HIGH SCHOOL RAMBLIING AT RANDOM LILLIAN MORGEN Gosh, what a funny feeling it will be to wake up some morning lnot, thank goodness, at the stroke of sixi, and remember that we have gradu- ated lBoard of Regents permitting of coursel 3 and that no longer will we have nightmares in which the principle figures are angles, polygons and neat, well-shaped, but ill-boding zeros. At this point we pause to give thought to that new song hit, Darling, Let's Grow Old Together, which might very well apply to Geometry and some of us, and mostly to this one of us, who's haunted by the ghost of Euclid and the Silly-Science-of-Squares-or- Somepin'. Yes, the Greeks had a word for it, and so have we. But, ahem. we'll suffer in silence and keep our definitions definitely from the public at large. Then we recall those delightful days in Mr. Benov's class, when we were only so high, and oh, such an angel. Of course, we were too young then to know better. Horrors, imagine having finished the course without a single O. Those aforementioned tokens of a Tilden teacher's affection lfor the delany cards, not the students! were never neat and well-formed. Mr. Benov's talents never did tend toward the artistic in such cases. just think of not having to argue with Mr. Abelson, the composite of an entire police force and a watchful sentry, guarding a fortress, as to the merits of going up and around, or taking a pink card--at least if they were gilt-edged we might have considered it .... Of doing a better and better impersonation as time went on of a sardine every lunch period .... Of floun- dering about for a fish story when the time came for our homework in cer- tain subjects .... Of making pleasant friendships, of laughing, crying some- times, but thoroughly loving and enjoying every minute of the time spent at Tilden-and last but not least, the heartache at leaving a school so mod- ern, so beautiful, so smoothly run by teachers who were not only our eudcators but our friends as well, that we could not help hating to leave, and looking forward to coming back lnot we hope, because of some rever- sion of decision by that dreaded Board of Regentsl, but to be just one of the growing Alumni Association .... But, for goodness sake, we don't mean to end on a mournful note . . . we just want to say Adios and Gracias, and Tilden, you're not rid of us yet! 'Snuff said. Page Sixteen
