THE SENIOR CLASSIC VERY LARGE corporation in New York has adopted a one-word slogan for its employees- Thinkl Every man and woman em- ployed there must go through a rigorous training in the work he is expected to do, and the predominant idea throughout the course is Think! The firm occupies several floors in a large office building and on every wall is the sign- Think! Employees are promoted according to the success they achieve in adhering to this slogan- Thinkl What a wonderful world this would be if people would think more! It has occurred to me that this would make an ideal slogan for you, now- Thi'nk! You have completed a four-year high school course. Some of you intend to continue your education in an institution of higher learning. Many of you plan to work as soon as you can get a position. Regardless of what specific commercial abilities you have developed, if you have learned to think-hard and earnestly-you will succeed. Everyone is endowed with the ability to do at least one thing better than anyone else in his city, in his state or perhaps in the whole world. What is your great ability? What is your greatest ambition? Have you thought about it seriously? Have you a plan to fulfill ythat ambition? Have you conferred with others who might help you formulate a plan to work toward that goal? Now is the time for you to consider the matter more seriously than you have ever considered it in your whole life. You have reached one of the great milestones in your life. Complacentl willingness to let destiny bring you what it may is a cowardly admission of resignation to defeat. Think! Form a plan. lt may have to be revised from time to time, but always be sure your aim is perfection and your ideals are high. The success- ful man is the one who is never entirely satisfied with what he has accom- plished and who never ceases to strive to reach perfection in his work and in himself. I do hope you appreciate the free education you have been given during the past twelve years. I hope you appreciate it so much that now, of your own volition, you will continue to improve yourself-in college, in a profes- sion, in business or in private studyl And I hope, furthermore, that you will use this education for a worthy ideal. Love thy God and love thy neighbor. Do nothing to offend either. Do everything you can to make others happier. Think and work to effect such a creed and your life will be crowned with glory and success. THOMAS H. READYOFF Page Seven
