SOPHOMORE CLASS OFFICERS: Steve Schultz, treasurerg Kate O'Halloran, publicity manager, Curtis Grund, vice-presidentg Terri Hass, secretary, T Hermanson, president. -,if Sophomores enter THS as largest class The largest sophomore class entered Tigard High armed with new requirements for graduation and spirit to match their junior and senior counterparts. The 480 pupils began by changing the titles for their traditional class offices from president to chair- man CTodd Hermansonj, vice-president to activities director fCurtis Grundj, secretary to communications director fTerri Hassj, treasurer to treasury director fSteve Shultzj, and class representative to publicity director fKate O'Hal1oranj. The class of 78, through a miscalculation, left their com- pleted Homecoming float in a garage on the day of judging, and therefore it was fondly referred to as the float that sunk. 1 8 SOPH OM ORES Homecoming was not a complete loss for the sophomores, when: they along with the juniors, defeated the seniors in the annual girls powderpuff football game. The sophomores ran second to the juniors in the canne food drive held during Christmas week. The spunky rooks als finished the year in a strong second place in the class competi tion, once again to the juniors. One of the major obstacles that confronted the new clas were the recently implemented graduation competencies, tha created confusion but were directed at giving the students, start ing with the group of '78, a better overall high school education-
