HOMECOMING Spirit IH the Sky suffers usual Homecoming rarnout Spirit in the Sky represented a week long schedule of events and rain soaked the traditional football game for Homecoming week 1975 To start the week was the annual Battle of the Sex es The girls volleyball team beat the male social studies teachers 2 I after two consecutive years of defeat On Tuesday Charles King brought spirit and enthus iasm to the student body King 1S a black religious singer who travels around the country performing assemblies Wednesday night was the powderpuff football game which attracted a good portion of the student body The performance of the varsity football team as Tigerettes brought much laughter from the on looking crowd ln the game the sophomores and juniors defeated the seniors'22-18. Spirit from the sky soaked another Homecoming event as the bonfire burned slowly Thursday night. How- ever on Friday at the pep assembly students cheered and threw an amazingly large amount of confetti. The evening events started with the car rally which was held on Main Street in Tigard. First place went to Mike Crook for the most original car while Nancy Oster- hauts took second for most spirited. The third place honors were claimed by Ferd Alexander in his Malibu for the loudest car. After the game the week was ended with the Home- coming dance as Skyline Express performed. Q U 'E Q NOVEMBER Thanksgiving vacation caps slowing November weeks The third shortest month of the school year Novem- ber started off with a teacherrn service day which was the first of several holidays for students throughout the month On the morning of the Sth the Division of Health Services and the Seventh Day Adventist Church pre- sented THS with a smoking Clinic Assembly This started the beginning of a week long program to reinforce those who did not smoke not to start and to encourage smokers to seriously consider quitting Classes were held during the day for students and in the evening for adults. Both were well attended with 20 students and 19 adults receiving certificates of completion On November 26 the drama department put on the annual Student-Faculty One-Act Plays held during lst and 2nd periods. The first play was a comedy called Thirty Minutes in the Street directed by Mary Soares and Julie Spear which was followed by The Monkey s Paw directed by Diana Grogg and Linda Hanby. The crowd s favorite Parted on Her Wedding Mourn a melodrama which was directed by Rhonda Thornbrue and Tammy Gedney ended the assembly. The plays were well attended by students faculty and also parents of the cast.
