Last Will and Testament lClass VVill of 19395 A time comes when a certain group from the big, happy family has to leave the old haunts and enter a new and different part of the world. There are many things this group, the Seniors, can llOt take with them which they bequeath to the rest of the family. We, the Class of 1939, bequeath to our principal and teachers a pleasant memory of our class. We really appreciated your endeavors to instil, in our poor minds, know- ledge, and a desire to be good citizens and wise homemakers. We are grateful to you for your plans for many happy and memorable occasions. We bequeath to you courage to carry on the fine work of educational values, contentment in the knowledge that you are doing something worthwhile. To you, Juniors, who next year will be Seniors, we bequeath all the excitement of Commencement, Senior Play, Annual, and other activities in which you will partici- pateg a happy decision in reference to the type of apparel to be worn at Commerce- mentg a secure plan for each of your futures, and a bigger and better Senior class. To you, juniors, we bequeath joviality, jauntiness, justice, judgment, and joyousness. To the Sophomores we leave our modestyg a feeling of gratitude at having com- pleted half of their high school safelyg many happy class achievements, wholesome school lifeg and a determination to achieve high goals. You will be Juniors next year and will have certain obligationsg may each of these objectives be successful. To the Sophomores, we bequeath safety, security, sensibility, satisfaction, serenity, and simplicity. To the Freshmen we bequeath our congratulations 5-they have successfully started their high school life. We will to them an unbroken class, as Sophomores, of high averagesg great perseverance through all their trials, and a will and determination to carry on. To the Freshmen, we bequeath faith, fair-play, fame, felicity, fineness, fortitude, and freedom. To you, who will be Freshmen next year, we will most of all-courage, you will need it. As you enter your new life you will have certain fears and doubts, so to you we bequeath luck, good fortune, and above all else, faith-faith in the knowledge and experience of the teachers, who will do all in their power to make you feel at ease and to correctly guide and advise you. Good fortune to you, Freshmen of next year. To the family, which is the whole high school combined, teachers, principal, new students, and old students we bequeath success as a family. VVe sincerely wish that you are in the years to come just one, big, happy family. This wish above all others we will to you, family. Signed and sealed by the Senior Class of 1939. 18

Glass Qbituary Died, on May 24th, 1939, in the fourth year of its age, the Senior class of the Tigard High School, from a rush of information to the head. The funeral services will be held in the Auditorium on May 26, and all friends are requested to attend, bearing flowers and gifts. The death of this class, although not sudden, is still a shock to the entire community particularly to the faculty, who had thought it might linger for another year. The loss of this class will be deeply felt in the community and it will be difficult to assem- ble another with so much public spirit and power of accomplishment. A great class has gone from us, and we mourn its passing consoling ourselves with this thought, He whom the Gods love dies while young. glass Epitaph Here lie the good Seniors whose genius was such We scarcely can blame it or praise it too muchg VVho, born for distinction, perfected their mind And, fraught with all learning, gave joy to mankind. They were equal to all things, for nothing unfit, They were pleased with their culture and proud of their Wit. They are missed by their class mates, their teachers as well, Who their virtues and wisdom now tearfully tell. Then in peace may they lie, our good Seniors, who now Have taken their finals and made their last bow. 20
