The Saga of the Senior Glass A CCLASS HISTORYJ 'Twas only four short years ago ln 1935, if you would know, Our class embarked on its career By entering its Freshman year. A band of eager restless youth Who'd never cut a wisdom tooth But recognized as gospel truth The ancient pedagogic creed That learning's road is rough indeed. ,Twould take too long to tell The strange adventures that befell Our gallant class ere we attained The lofty heights that now we've gained. The faculty were most forbcaring Although they must have found us wearing They never acted autocratic But always wondrous diplomatic. Though some regard all games futile And think athletics merely brutal, A test of brawn and not of brains, Our team the victors honor retains For when our brave boys used their system, No enemy could e're resist 'em. And yet the team proved to be The essence of integrity. In any learned competition Which tests the powers of education We'd prove our brain power of the best And treat with scorn a teacher's test. Our social life was very vital And worth a place in this recital. Our dances each a great event ' To which the school's elite all went. Cur Senior Play showed gifts surprising And talents quite beyond surmising. VVe're cultured, really most polite 'And very, very erudite, And, with our higher education Acquired broad-minded toleration. We have although a history checkered We leave a most extraordinary record. 15

Old Home Week . . . Prophecy On a November night in the year 1954 as I sat in the Tigard High School Audi- torium waiting for the members of the class of '39 to arrive for the class reunion, my reverie was broken by the entrance of a messenger boy loaded with telegrams. I was much disappointed to discover that I was the only member of the class to attend, but the others sent telegrams for their absence: Medran Altimus CBoxerD-MEETING-jOE-LEWIS- Tom Ammons CSpeakerQ - LECTURING-ON-THE-VALUE-OF-A- SMILE- Mae Ballard QHousekeeperJ-ENTERTAINING-ON-THURSDAY- La Verne Baurer QlVIrs.
