Gay couples entered the hallroom through the gigantic clown face placed over the gym door. The chandeliers in the red, gold. and purple ceil- ing of crepe paper streamers turned the ordinary gym into a festival. The music of liodie Chitty, the costumed figures on the walls, and the mural scenes of New Orleans added to the llardi Gras atmos- phere. The highlight of the evening was the coro- nation hy Jerry Stone of llarianna Girtman and Fred Hill as King and Queen of the lllardi Gras.
