' Mr. Mercer points out date of College Entrance Exam to Seniors. 22' . qua Ben Simpson gathers information about his career from Mr. Mercer. The Guidance Department is probably one of the most active centers in our school. It is to this office that all students at T. H. S. even- tually come. Whether one is seeking iob information, college publications, or a pri- vate conference, he can always feel welcome at the Guidance Department. A maior function of the guidance de- partment is to serve more-or-less as a home- base for the entire student body. It further aims to serve their needs by affording them the opportunity to seek answers to their per- sonal problems and to aspire to higher goals through employing long-range vision in planning their future. The counselor strives always to find time to see and talk with the student-either through individual conference or group con- ference. Too, the Guidance Department ad- ministered those diflicult College Entrance Examinations every yearvas well as all other intelligence, achievement, interest, and schol- arship exams. Club is one of the most active of the 8,569 national F.F.A.'s. This year the F.F.A.'s Wild Life exhibit at the Tift County Fair won first Sweetheart v-.851 prize. The fair booth is only one of the club's many projects, such as the Mother, Father, and Son Banquet and a calendar with the members picture on it. DIRECTOR Uncle Len Lastinger THE BIG BLUE PARADES AT Tifton High School has always been proud of its outstanding Big Blue and White band, but especially this year are we saluting Uncle Len and his fine group. The band performed this year at Jacksonville, Florida at the annual Gator Bowl Game. Not only did they march in the nationally televised parade, but they were chosen along with six other outstanding bands to give a six minute pre-game show in front of the thou- sands ot fans attending the game. Yes, we salute you, band! The day's activities began in assembly with the pro- claiming of Pig Davis Day, Coach Davis was pre- sented gifts from the students, faculty, and business men. A pep rally on the front campus and a colorful parade highlighted the afternoon's agenda. Although the hard-fighting Blue Devils were de- feated by the Cairo Syrup-makers the happy spirit of Homecoming was not destroyed.
