'iq-D O The Talisman staff wi hes to honor our attractive and efficient school secretary Miss Julia Short b ded t y ica ing this page of our 1951 Talisman to her She has worked with us sympathetically and conscientiously checking school fees and past records ordering textbooks and supplies and keeping in touch with all phases of our school life is tons of work and countless decisions have come from Mr Bailey s office the center of all activities for the three city schools. Miss Short is the oldest of five children of Robert Sorrells Short a nat. f M. . H. . . ive o ississippi and the former Eya Lee Llyatt of Clyattsyille Georgia who was working at the Bank of Tifton when Mr. Short came to Georgia in 1903. After graduation from Tifton High School Miss Short attended Wes- leyan Conservatory in Macon Ceorgia. She his been secretary to the City Board of Education for twenty years having, begun her work during Mr. Bailey s first term as superintendent. She is most thoughtful of teachers and students alike -ind is never too bus t h l 'th ' ' ' ' y 0 ep 61 er. Very diplomxtic she geneially pleases exeryone yet never has a favorite. Because of her great interest in all school actiyities she snatches time to attend assembly meetings and occasionall to t lk . y a shop with the teachers. An ardent football fan she ney er misses a game. Miss Sh t h ' . or as genuine loyilty to Tifton High School and great admira- tion and respect for Mr. Bailey. She appreciates and works faithfully to help teachers and students and she says she nex er wants a different boss!
