In appreciation of the excellent service rendered our school we the Talisman staff dedicate our 1950 yearbook to our Principal and Coach james Wilbur McAllister Mr McAllister came to Tifton High School as 1 coach and teacher of science in 1947 His abilnts was soon recognized and it was upon the resignation of Principal Alton Ellis that the Tifton Board of Education elected Mr McAllister as our Principal He has served Tifton High School most efficiently in this position and m his gentle, yet frm manner, he has won the respect and admiration of the students ad teachers The many successes that Coach McAllister has achieved clearly proves that real knowledge like everything else of value, is not to be obtained easily but it has to worked for studied for, thought for and more than all, must be prayed for Teacher of Science at Tifton High School in 1947 48 Assistant football coach in 1947 48 and boys and girls basketball coach during that year President of Tift County local education umt in 1948 49 Was on Second District High School Association Executive Committee in 1949 50 Appomted by Georgla Education Association to State Committee on Public Relations 1949 50 He was instrumental in bringing 3 trophies to Tifton High School Principal of Tifton High School for the terms 1948 49 and 1949 50 Member of the First Baptist Church of Tifton Member of the Kiwanis Club of Tifton Member of National Honor Scholastic Fraternity Member of Phi Delta Kappa Selected for the Who s Who of American Universities and Colleges in 1946 47 Attended Peabody College summer school in 1947, 48 and 49 From the Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges for 1946 47 McAllister James Wilbur fGeorg1a Teachers Collegej, uztman Georgia B October 25 1917 BS De gree Secondary Education History, 1947 Record Senior Class president International Relations Club member and vice president Veterans Club member student yearbook sports editor, Laboratory High School teaching fellow ship basketball teach coach and track team coach high school coach four years, payroll accountant three years, Georgia Veterans for Majority Rule campus chairman, transfer for Middle G orgia College U S Naxy hirty four months thletic specialist' D .K . . 1 , I . s , .
