A if A 'f nM,n we w W.MW gpf.fJ,. . f -as GEORGEK NELSON .imap xg? Secretary MRS. DORRIS LOWRIE Superinfendenfs Message I do not know what the close of this particular school term holds for each of you. For the under- calssmen it holds advancement to another grade. For the seniors the close of this term of school is en- tirely different from the close of any other term of school they have ever experienced. There will never be another opening day, another closing day of a high school term for them. Some of the seniors no doubt are joyful that their high school days are at an end. All of us, both students and teachers, can look back upon the term just now passing and recall inci- dents we prefer to forget. We can recall the hasty work which might have been left unsaid. Students no doubt would wipe from high school experience, if it were possible, some thoughtless action which caused bitterness, or some idle prank which caused misunderstanding. But this one thing we all are certain, the days of the term are now beyond recall. What has been, has beeng What is, is. The future is all we have before us over which we now can have any control so far as we as individuals are concerned. As we bring this term to a close, let us all share together the misfortunes of the yearg let us all re- joice for the good things which have come to us. As we go our way, some to seek new work, new schools, or to await the opening of another term, let each profit from the past and experience .a more profitable 16 Wigan wx and enjoyable future. Principal DELVIN TASKA Secretary MRS. TINY PIERCE Principal 's Message PERSISTENCY The world is full of starters, but it is the finishers that count. Many individuals dream dreams of something Fine and great. Some reach their drearnsg but all too few stick to it. One man tried to teach this lesson by misspelling two words. He wrote, Konsider the postage stamp, my son, whose usefulness konsisteth in its ability no stick to a thing until it gets there. Some people have a quality widely recog- nized as a factor in success - the determination to get things done. It is called persistency, perseverance determination, never say die, self-assurance, self reliance and even cockiness or stubbornness. Regardless of what it is called - people who attain success in life have persistency, How about you? Are you determined and persistent enough to reach your dreams? Senior Class Prophecy ln 1991, as a few of the 1971 graduates of Tidehaven High School get together for our second class reunion, we set out to visit a few of the old memorable places of our high school years, As we gather at the world renowned National Hall a Go-Go, owned and entertained by the famous Hickl brothers, RONALD and DAVID, we spot Mr. Taska, our old principal, sitting in a booth surrounded by the new Hollywood group, DELORES FISHER and her Guppies, consisting of CAROLYN EDWARDS and WANDA DAVIS, Wanda's eight children are sitting at a table waiting for Mama to finish, As we prepare to leave, Mr. Taska urges us to visit Tidehaven and see the many changes that have occurred over the years, We drive up to the school and notice that the name has been changed to The University of Tidehaven, Walking up the sidewalk, we see JIM BABIK, the gardener, using a high-powered hedge saw, trimming the ten-foot hedges that surround the campus, We are warmlyx greeted by the new principal, DANNY CANO and his old maid secretary, SUE BUFFALO, The men's restroom door opens and out walks WAYNE ANDERSEN, the superintendent, He agrees to give us a short tour of our old school, Approaching the band hall, we hear the shouts of the band director, TOPPER RUSH, trying to quiet his 500 member band, In the Athletic Department we find DAVID GRFEN working out with his three-time State Champion football team while his assistant coaches, LEON REYES and DONNIE CLAXTON, are sitting on a bench busily painting tiger member, CURTIS BROWN, who has come back to T, H.S, to start teaching speech therapy, He had made all A's in his many speech courses in college, As noon approaches, we are invited to stay for lunch by the dieticians, SHARON HICKS, SHERRY SPARKS and COUQUEZE RUSK, After eating the jelly sandwiches and chatting with our old friends, we regret- fully say our good-byes and depart from the school, prophecy con 'L Moving on, we enter the metropolis of Blessing, now a city of over 100,000 people, As we speed along main street, trying to take in all the sights we can, we are stopped by JOHNNY JUREK, who later informs us that he is Blessing's Chief of Police, Like Johnny always said, If you can't beat 'em, join 'em! After talking Johnny out of giving us a ticket, we continue our IOU1' of Blessing, We stop for a snack and are surprised to see that after so many long, heart-breaking years, EUGENE SAULAS and DIANE WAKEFIELD finally got together, married and opened a club of their own, known as Half Ton Salas's, We notice that there is quite a bit of construction going on by the famous HEZEKIAH BROOKS, who decided on the construction profession because he was so creative with his blocks at the age of two, On our way out of Blessing, we stop and pick up a BLESSING PRESS where we see that DWIGHT HADLEY has finally gotten his name and picture in the paper by unanimously winning the mayor election. THE PRESS did not mention the fact that nobody else was in the race, Our first stop in Midfield is at the swanky Village Inn where we find EDITH ELLIOTT, a topless cigarette girl, being given a large tip by her most regular customers of late, RONNIE HEJTMANEK and ALLAN HAYES, Ronnie and Allan have been living in a commune in California for several years, Their ponytails are neatly tied back, and they have purchased new sandals for their trip back home, As we look around, we see that DANNY SHINDLER and RICHARD ZAPALAC make the Inn one of their regular stops, Leaving the Inn, we run into DONNY KNEBEL and DANNY HEMPHILL with their surfboards and sandals heading toward the beach where they hope to catch a wave big enough to carry them to Hawaii, They have heard about a new sport called surfboard rodeoing and they have high hopes of roping a couple of blonds, To our surprise, we find that on the outskirts of Midfield, REFUGIO FLORES and BENNY GARCIA are having the grand opening of their new charm school called Meskin Charm, The instructors are DEBBIE ZIELONKA and SHIRLEY SLIVA, who after six years, finally finished their six month beauty course, Reluctantly, we leave Midfield and hurriedly travel to Clemville. In Clemville, we visit the newly built Clemville Comfort Inn, a branch of the Village Inn, We are shocked to see that RICHARD and DANNY have arrived ahead of us for another quick refresher before going home to their wives, JUDY NEDBALEK and MARY TWEEDLE, In another corner we see V. L, FRICK and ROBIN SPARKS celebrating their latest promotion from tasters to President and Vice President of the Schlitz Brewery of Markham. Due to their many skills and experiences in the business, this pro- motion was expected, We are in time to catch the floor show featuring DEEAN JOHNSON, known as the woman with the longest ponytail, singing her latest song Me and My Freckle. The second act features BEVERLY ROBERTSON doing stunt tricks on her mini bike, This was billed as Bonny Bev's Bike- a-Bo -Bo, Exhausted from our exciting day, we are forced to stop for the night in Markham at the Markham Hilton Hotel. We find that JUANITA OLGUIN is the manager. She personally leads us to our rooms and serves us a marvelous dinner on the house prepared by Chef MARK MARONEY, His specialty is Baloney by Maroney, He is also well known for having invented a pretzel straightener, We discover that DAR- LENE WALLS, who wrote the book SINGLE GIRLS HAVE ALL THE FUN, is staying in the next room with her 13 children, The next day, refreshed after a good night's rest, we were forced to ask about the remaining seniors before we separated, We found that MICHAEL TEMPLE and RUBY SANFORD got married soon after grad- uating and now own a Weight Watchers Club in New York City, They are anxiously awaiting the Champ- ionship fight at Madison Square Garden between HARRIETTE BROWN and ESTELLA BROOKS, Last but not least, we find that BERT LOGAN and LINDA DANNELS wed without the consent of their parents and ran off to England where they are hanging around thinking they will inherit the crown of England, p Knowing we have no more seniors to check up on, we sadly say our farewells until our next reunion in 2001. Each of you has the responsibility of getting all the formal education possible before assuming your adult role in this changing society. in-ff? Markham Elementary Principal What a wonderful world we live in! Man has attained the power, skill, and intellect to control his physical world as never before in man's history. This has placed a great burden upon our schools. As educators, we must constantly remind ourselves that we are in the business of educating persons. The goals we set and seek must reflect the personalized approach to education. We must prepare our young people for the world in which they will live. X W Tidehaven Elementary Principal I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the graduating seniors and wish them the best of luck in the future. .zJA.....fawf.Ar Junior High Football BOTTOM: Cheerleaders - C.
