' Anned Saha This edition of The Tiger is brought to you with the hope that it will keep alive your many high school memories. When you flip through these pages a few years from now, I hope you can relive these happy and cherished memories and that you will be taken back to those good old days. I would like to express my most sincere grati- tude to all the other members of the staff. No editor could have had a more agreeable and hard working group to 'assist him. NELSON Secretary - MRS, DORRIS LOWRIE FAILURE OR SUCCESS Our failures are not nearly as important as our successes. The opportunity we have today to help each other is more demanding, and more vital to survival than ever before in man's history. Our world will continue to be a world of crisis. But it is also a world of fantastic opportunity. The Chinese Symbol for the word crisis is composed of two characters that mean danger and opportu- nity . . . a very accurate description of our world, a world of dangerous opportunity. If we lift a helping hand and an understanding smile to those who will rise on our shoulders, we will be helping to change that dangerous opportunity into progress, achievement and success. It is upon the foundation of what we do today that we will build for tomorrow. Each day is a grade with its lessons and its rewards, or its failures. At the end of a worthy day we step up into the higher grade of tomorrow. If carelessly lived and lazily dragged through, we slip back into the grade of yesterday. And so we may ask ourselves - how about today - this very day? Did we graduate into tomorrow's grade or slip back into the grade of yesterday? X, PrincipaI's Message Secreiarg Secretary - MRS. TINY PIERCE Principal- MR. DELVIN TASKA INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY In this day the popular thing or belief seems to be that somebody owes each one of us some- thing, or that all of our problems are someone else's responsibility to solve. This simply is not true nor will it work. Each one of us is anindividual. Each one of us controls our thoughts. Each one of us can plan, set our goals and objectives, make choices, select our life's mate. Regardless of the amount of money you receive, large or small, you control it. We can make excuses to ourselves, complain, find fault or blame our luck on fate, but this will not help because each of us is an individual and what we make of ourselves is our own respon- sibility. 3,-A-cg. afe71-Jet Board of Eduoaiion N . - , . v g 1 ,. ...A,,...,,, W., , - A I 1,a5 g.f J' b . And last of all, we leave the distinction of being seniors to the juniors. We hope they will be as good examples as we have been! Senior Class Prophecg On this day of May 26, 1980, we find in the Grand Ballroom of Two- Ton PAUL'S No. 2, which is adjacent to his tortilla factory, the Senior Class of 1970 united to discuss present day occupations, in- ventions and good ole past times. Wandering through the room, we overhear BRUCE HIC KS, PPCSUCHI Of Styles, IDC. talking with his No. l customer, GARY PIWONKA, who is arranging to have his sideburns frosted. In the corner we find CINDY SPARKS and BILL THOMAS reminiscing their love life at good ole T.H.S. We hear from ANNED SAHA, editor of the Tin Top Times, that LANA REED has pulled a muscle in her index finger in the last few minutes of the 1979 shorthand olympics and FRANCIS KANA jammed his slide rule and was forced to drop out of the contest. Also the Tin Top Times reports that VIRGINIA IALUFKA has won an academy award for her role in Tiptoe Tmo Outside we hear the roar of a mighty engine and see the FRICK brothers racing team, DANNY and MIKE, with their driver, A. I. QVANCEJ PHILLIPS tuning up their turbo- charged, fuel injected, 1958 Edsel. We notice IEANETTE WILLIAMS, Spanish teacher, and BILL CORNELIUS, Driver's Ed Instructor discussing their many problem students. Startled by an awful racket, we turn around to see the wall crumble behind us and DALE WARN, PAT NEMEC, and GLYNN COLLIER fly through the air from the impact of their still exploding. The local L.C.B. 's, DANNY POESSEL and PHILLIP SHINDLER, arrive and escort the three to jail while fire chief ALLAN VALIGURA is busy battling the blaze. 1 As the fire is extinguished, we look across the street and spy DOROTHY HAHN, Star of stage, screen, and idol of millions, returning home after her latest film success with PRESTON FELLERS It Takes Two to Tango. They are driven by their faithful chauffeur, WAYNE ANDERSON. We also see GARY BEYER and FRANK RAY in hot pursuit of DENNIS DORNAK and JOE KRENEK, two international surfing champions. We look up and see STEPHEN and JANE ZAPALAC flying in from their whooping crane hatchery in Plymouth Rock, Massachusetts. Returning to the ballroom, we see VICKI SMITH, owner of Slenderbolic, and her head trainer, DAUNA WORSHAM, chatting with Roller- Derby champions JOAN LABEFF and JUDY HADLEY. Catch- ing the attention of everyone are go- go girls, CARMEN FABRYGEL, MARILYN BAKER, BETTY NED' BALEK, and GAYLE BUCHANAN who are dancing to KATHY NEMEC and GAIL GORDON's latest hit, Tennesse Bird Walk , accompanied by SANDRA TRACY on the piano. DEBBIE MCGINNIS, band director of S.M.U. fSouthern Midfield Universityj strikes up a fan- fare as JEANETTE HICKL, LOU ANN MERTA, and SHARON WOODSON are awarded Outstanding Farmers of Matagorda County for 1980. There is a crowd to the side ofthe room admiring welding expert, CARL KING's abstract sculpture which was a,gift to his fiance, GALE ACKERMAN. As this reunion ends, it is unanimously decided that the graduating class of 1970 will meet again in the year 2525. .Q av s :, J E wj P I J .y 1 if' IV if Q! 4 3 'fr 5 'Y i Q .
