Executive Officer Lieutenant Commander Kevin P. Newmeyer Lieutenant Commander Kevin P N ewmeyer, of Montgom- ery, Alabama, graduated from the United States Naval Acad- emy in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. After commissioning, Commander Newmeyer entered the nuclear power training pipeline followed by duty in USS MISSISSIPPI CCGN 405 as E Division Officer and Reactor Training Assistant. After completing his tour in MISSIS- SIPPI he transferred to USS BAINBRIDGE CCGN 25D for duty as Main Propulsion Assistant. Selected as an Olmsted Scholar in 1989, Commander Newmeyer completed his graduate studies in Madrid, Spain receiving a Master of Arts in International Relations from the University of Madrid and a degree in International Relations from the Spanish Diplomatic School. Retuming to sea, he completed a tour as Operations Officer in USS JACK WILLIAMS CFFG 243 and as Station Officer in USS ENTERPRISE CCVN 655 during a refueling overhaul. Commander Newmeyer completed a tour as Surface Tech- nical Assistant and Nuclear Training Programs Officer on the staff of Naval Reactors. ' Commander Newmeyer wears the Meritorious Service Medal and the Navy Commendation Medal as well as vari- ous unit and campaign awards. He is married to the former Kathleen Mooney. Yoshihara Commander David Yoshihara, of Honolulu, Hawaii, graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1979 as a Bachelor of Science in Ocean Engineering. ' Following commissioning, Commander Yoshihara was assigned to USS REEVES CCG-245 as Assistant Combat Information Center Officer and later as First Lieutenant. He followed REEVES with a tour as Aide and Flag Lieutenant to Commander, Cruiser Destroyer Group ONE. He then attended the Naval Postgraduate School gradu- ating as a Master of Science in Operations Research. Retuming to sea, he completed tours as Operations Officer in USS CURTIS CFFG-385 and on the staff of Commander, Destroyer Squadron THIRTY ONE. From November 1990 to March 1991 he served as the Operability Manager in the Surface Ship ASW Systems, CProgram Manage- ment Office 424J, working on the SQQ-89CD project. His most recent sea tour was as Executive Officer aboard USS FIFE CDD-9915. ' Commander Yoshihara recently completed a tour on the Joint Staff, Operations Directorate CJ-35, where he served as Chief, Nuclear Command and Control System, and Exercise and Training Sections. He wears the Defense Meritorious Medal and the Navy Commendation Medal Cwith three gold starsl. Commander Yoshihara is married to the former Chiaki Murata of Fukuoka, Japan.
