YZ., F.. 511145 V3 We EXECUTIVE OFFICER if coMMANDER y GEORGE G. GALYO U.s. NAVY Commander George G. Galyo, USN, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in May, 1980. Upon graduating, he attended the Surface Warfare Officers School, followed by assignment to the USS JOHN HANCOCK QDD 9819 as First Lieutenant and then CIC Officer. Upon completion of his first sea tour he was a student at the Naval Postgraduate School where he earned a Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engi- neering with a Weapons Teclmology sub-specialty. After a year in the Nuclear Power School pipeline he reported to USS VIRGINIA QCGN 389 as Electrical Officer. While assigned to USS VIRGINIA, he concurrently served three months as Chief Engineer on USS STUMP QDD 9781 during their Mediterranean and Persian Gulf deployment. Upon completion of Department Head School, he reported as Combat Systems Officer on USS ARTHUR W. RADFORD CDD 968D, then Engineer Officer on USS TEXAS QCGN 391. After a year at the Marine Corps Command and Staff College he was assigned to USS TICONDEROGA QCG 475 as Executive Officer. Commander Galyo is married to the former Susan Lynn Salter of Charleston, South Carolina. They have three children, Michelle, George Gary, and Gail.
