EXECUTIVE OFFICER Ray C. Pilcher, Jr., son of Ray C. and Fenton Pilcher, was born 17 July 1949 in Panama City, Florida. He attended the University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1972. Following graduation, he attended the Naval Offi- cer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island and on 15 December 1972, was commissioned an Ensign. Following commissioning, Commander Pil- cher reported to the ocean minesweeper USS AF- FRAY CMSO 5 1 11 as Minecountermeasures Officer. He detached and after advanced schooling report- ed to the guided missile frigate USS JULIUS A. FURER QFFG 61 as Antisubmarine Warfare Officer in December 1973 where he qualified as a Surface Warfare Officer. From August 1976 to December 1978, Com- mander'Pi1cher was a student at the Naval Post- graduate School, Monterey, California. He gradu- ated with a Masters of Science in Systems Tech- nology while specializing in Antisubmarine War- 4 COMMANDER RAYC. PILCHER, JR., USN fare. T After completion of the Surface Warfare Offi- cers School Department Head course, he reported in October 1979 to the frigate USS THOMAS C. HART IFF 10921 as Operations Officer. Detaching in May 1981, he next joined the guided missile de- stroyer USS DAHLGREN CDDG 431 as Engineer Of- ficer. Detaching in May 1983, Commander Pilcher was assigned to the Combat Systems Division as Head ASW Weapons Section in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations. He detached in May 1985 and after enroute training reported to the first Aegis cruiser USS TICONDEROGA ICG 471 as Executive Officer in November 1985. Among his decorations, Commander Pilcher wears the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Unit Commendation and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon 141. Commander Pilcher is married to the former Anne Carroll Price of Savannah Beach, Georgia. They have two children: Stephanie and Kevin.
