There is an indispensible need to learn foreign history, culture, and art. One of the best means of understanding another people is through their language. As communications and trade bring us closer to other nations, friendly relation- ships must exist. French, started in the elementary grades and continued through high school, provides an excellent opportunity for proficiency in that language. Another modern language, Span- ish, is taught. Students may choose to take Latin, the language of a people whose language and culture have greatly influenced ours.
