WALTER HCRST A nalive of Hubbell, Michigan, Waller Hors? spenf his early life in rhe Upper Peninsula. Upon gradualion from Dollar Bay High School, he eniered Oliver College and received his BS degree from 'rhaf inslifulion in l9lb. ln l925 he received an MA degree from fhe Universiry of Michigan. Mr. Horsfs iirsf Teaching posifion was in The science deparlrnenf al Rogers Cily High School. Following a year lhere, he came fo Three Rivers as a Teacher of physics and chemisfry. World War I interrupted his career. He served as a second lieufe- nanl and rnililary insfrucfor in rhe field arlillery school. Relurning fo Three Rivers al fhe end of lhe war, Mr, Hors? became principal of ihe high school in l9l9. During fhe same year he married Miss Gene- vieve Turner, whom he had lcnown since college days. Mr. and Mrs. Hors? have Three sons: Bruce. Douglas, and David. The l-lorsls have lwo grand- daughlers and iwo grandsons. Since rhe summer of I936 Mr. Hors? has served Three Rivers as superinfendenr of lhe public schools.

She was a life-long residenT oT Three Rivers, hav- ing graduaTed Trom This high school as valedicTorian of her class. She received a bachelor's degree Trom Albion Lol- lege and a masTer's degree from Columbia UniversiTy. Harriei' Beecher STowe Miss Avery was an avid reader, a lover of music, and always inTeresTed in advancing The cause of educaTion. She based her life on The guiding principles OT Chris- TianiTy. This sTrong TaiTh guided her ThroughouT her life- Time and susTained her Through her illness. She was an acfive member of her church and iTs organizaTions. She will long be remembered for her years oi service, her quieT humor, her dignify, her wisdom, and her in- TegriTy.
