CONCERT BAND Mr Van Sluyters The all boys marchmg band made lts annual ap pearance at the St Joseph County Falr Thexr next appearance was also an annual undertaklng at the Paw Paw Grape Festlval The cllmax of the marchlng season was the marchmg festlval held ln Nlles The band not only took back a fxrst d1v1s1on but was gxven the highest ratmg of any band present by all the Judges Thls years marchmg band made several new appearances such as, the retall parade sponsored by the local merchants and Band Day held at Kalamazoo The band also took part ln the Halloween Parade An added attractlon to our marchmg band was a new matched set of drums These were gwen to the band by the band parents club The band took lts usual actlve part ln presentmg many orlglnal skits at the football games The season closed wlth an appearance at the Memorial Day parade Standmg Mr Davldson, Mr Markley, Mr Ersklne Seated Mr Hale Mr Van Sluyters, Mr Turnbol The concert band was off to an excltxng start by presentmg the Band Follxes of 1950 as an added feature to xts busy season Southern Fantasles was the theme whlch presented flne entertainment for young and old allke The band toured to Rlchland and Augusta where they gave concerts This experxence helped to reduce nervous tenslon for tne dlstrlct and state contest whlch followed 1n close succession Another annual event was the dxstnct and state solo and ensemble contest Three Rxvers was well represented Thelr next performance was the Sprmg Concert Thls closed another busy and successful season for the concert band 21 I 1 Sli fl 3 l e ' 9 5 Fl 2 af ,- w 1 ix' I '55 , l' Af XX I 9, ,,, , ., 'M' ..v,TjY zz . . , 0 . . . .' . n n na Y . w .
