Effective Communication In Computerized World Someone once said, He who remains si- lent is usually speaking his mind. English De- partment members strive to create in students the art ot expression, the means ot communication to help them learn to speak and to say some- thing, too. To meet these demands, the English program is divided into several levels. Freshmen and Sophomores concentrate on grammar, speech and literature. Juniors study American authors, and acquire the basics of composition, Here they come face to tace with that most dreaded of English assignments: the term paper. Seniors meet the Bard ot London, Will Shakespeare, and vicariously visit Scotland and Denmark as they follow the fortunes of MacBeth and Hamlet. Ad- vance composition causes many sleepless nights. RIGHT: Mrs. Holbert, newspaper advisor, smiles after reading another weekly issue of the LANCER. ' BELOW: Linda Powell and Tom Brock exhibit their talents in a drama class play.
