Superintendents, Trustees Serve Growing District MR AXEL JENSEN MR. LEWIS K. JOHN DR. JOSEPH W. CROSBY - A ' t S ' d Administrative Superintendent Supefinfendenf The members of the Board of Trustees of the Oxnard Union High School District are responsible for adopting policies, providing adequate funds, and maintaining gen- eral supervision of seven high schools within the district. A typical agenda for the board at their bi-monthly meetings might include such items as: hearing of special requests of parents and community organizations, estab- lishment of attendance areas for each of the schools, hiring of teachers and secretaries, approval of substitute and night school teachers, hearing of reports on curriculum and new techniques on instruction, consideration of problems of stu- dents brought to their attention, establishment of a budget for the operation of the district, purchase of school equip- ment, adoption of personnel policies, and consideration of the construction problems of new schools. Acting both as chief advisor to the board and as its executive officer is Dr. Joseph W. Crosby, superintendent of schools. Mrs. Roberta Schoenherr put in her second year of diligent work as Girls' Vice- Principal this year. Among her many duties is that of girls' dress code supewisor, certainly not one of the most enjoyable jobs on campus. She also serves as coordinator between the student body and the administration, and as such makes many important decisions affecting student government. Thousand Oaks High welcomed a new face on campus this year, that of Mr. James Reser. Replacing Mr. Moore as attendance officer, his job is to make sure students stay.in class. Mr. Reser spent the last two years as a P.E. teacher at Rio Mesa High, where he was also the J.V. Football and Varsity Basketball coach. Although his iob requires the use of disciplinary measures, he has become popular and well-liked among the student body. The office of Boys' Vice-Principal, vacated by Mr. Elmer DeSilva last year, was competently filled this year by Mr. James Moore. Mr. Moore's most important iobs are the enforcement of regulations and the direct- ing of athletics. Enthusiastically pursuing the call of duty, he was the cause of the booming business that the barbershops did this year in Thousand Oaks, As director of athletics, he supervises the many activities of athletic competition at TOHS.
