OUR FRIEND FROM MEXICO Meeting Armida and hosting her in my home is an experience I shall never forget. It ' s an unusual feeling to adopt a person from another culture who speaks a different language and thinks in different ways. I realized that ours is not the only way of life in this world. It ' s frightening, however, to think that I may never see her again. Through the year we have ex- perienced and shared much together. I will miss her very much. Heather Franklin P.S. I am invited to her wedding, so Armida and Fredrico - see you in 1984. I feel that coming to Canada has helped me to realize that there is a whole other world out there. There were times that I wished to be home with my family and friends, but I will never regret coming to Canada. Heather has become a very close friend and introduced me to many new friends and traditions. We fought, laughed and cried but the things I have learned are friendship, and ENGLISH (some bad words too!). Thanks, T.I.S.S. Armida Cesar Saldivar

Editor ' s Message The Yearbook, a year-long com- mittment on the part of its members, has once more come to a happy end. Many people put in many hours to complete it and now the waiting begins to see how good a job they have done. If previous years are anything to go by, it will be a surefire success. Mrs. Chambers and Mr. Boesveld faced a major problem at the beginning of the year because of the two lunch hour system but they coped as did both the Junior and Senior Clubs. All in all it was a true team effort and hopefully this is a yearbook worthy of all the work that has gone into its production. This year has been one of my most hectic at TISS, but it has also been one of my most enjoyable. Being the Yearbook editor was a very enjoyable experience and one I won ' t soon forget. We had problems this year just like last but again they all worked out in the end. Thanks go to all the members of the club for the production of a great book. I would also like to thank Mrs. Chambers and Mr. Boesveld for their help and support throughout the year and for all the extra time they spent on the yearbook. There were times this past year when I felt I wasn ' t spending enough time in the yearbook room and other times that I felt that I was in there forever, but it has all been worth it. A successful yearbook not only depends on the people who put it together, but also on the people who appear on its pages. Thank you, fellow students for some wonderful pictures and thank you, staff members who withstood our constant pestering for information and help. I will always remember this year and all the things I have learned. I hope you enjoy looking through the book as much as I enjoyed helping to put it together. Thanks TISS for a wonderful year. Georgia Gliatis P.S. I forgot (honestly, I did truly forget) to thank the Camera Club and Mr. Olson for all their help and for their hard work in getting us the pictures we needed on time! ISLANDER ' 79 LEFT TO RIGHT: Mr. Boesveld, Cathy Corrigan, John Moras, Georgia Gliatis, Mickey Tapping, Mrs. Chambers, Gary Vandermeer. JUNIOR CLUB MEMBERS: Dorothy McManus, Shirley Kroot, Paul Manolakis.
