SOPHOMORE CLASS OFFICERS MERLIN .NEVALA SUSAN. BALDESCHWILER CAROL MICKE Preszdent Vzre Presulent Secretary-Treasiwer BIT PLAYERS As we look upon our second year students, we find our Sophomore class or Bit Players. Shortly after school started, we elected our class officers. Merlin Nevala, Presi- dentg Susan Baldeschwiler, Vice President, and Carol Micke, Secretary-Treasurer. We couldn't Wait to get revenge on the little green freshies with the initiation. We were later returned with a fine party. On the football and basketball teams the Bit Players placed the following on the squad: Gerald Boardman, Harold Hallanger, Louis Kaminski, Frank Kotecki, Merlin Nevala, Bob Olejniczak, Philip Turenne, and Vernon York. When Homecoming arrived, we selected Merlin Nevala as attendant and he chose his partner, Bonnie Stewart as the girl attendant. We chose Bernice Balicki and Gerald Boardman as representatives from our class in the Student Council. As we go on, we hope to find ourselves in the upper classmen group next fall. FRESHMAN CLASS OFFICERS SAM DAINES M1cnAEL JORGENSEN JUDY BOGUMILL President Vzce President Secretary-Treasiwer WALK-ONS The first day of school, we were known as the daring little freshmen. We were soon classified as Walk-ons. With Miss Brask, our advisor, we elected our class officers: Sam Daines, Presi- dent, Michael Jorgensen, Vice Presidentg and Judy Bogumill, Secretary-Treasurer. In the Student Council, the walk-ons selected James Lukasiewicz and Rosemary Badzinski as representatives of their class. After a couple of weeks, we were soon adjusted to the school program. We all survived the initiation and we feel loyal to Thorp High. Homecoming was new and exciting for the Freshmen as they decorated their fioat and window. The class selected Jerry Szymanski as attendant and he chose Jane Norysewicz as attendant from the Freshmen girls. Several Freshmen boys were placed on the football squad: Reinold Benzschawel, Ronald Benzschawel, Larry Frese, Lawrence Grabowski, George Kliminski, James Lukasiewicz, Gerald Michno, Larry Moskiewicz, Lawrence Maslowski, Robert Przybyl- ski, Gerald Szymanski, Robert Wnek. The following boys were out for basketball: Reinold Benzschawel, Ronald Benzschawel, Victor Gostomski, Lawrence Grabowski, Mike Jorgensen, Jerry Kudingo, Jerry Szymanski, LeRoy Burzinski, George Kliminski, Lawrence Maslowski, Sam Daines, Jerry Micke. After six weeks of memorizing, the Freshman declamations were presented to the school. After judging the eight best declamations of the class, Sam Daines won first place and had his name engraved on the Freshman Declamation Cup. The Walk-ons took an active part in all the school's activities and extra- curricular activities. Page Twenty-six
