A SHOW IS BORN It was on September 1, 1952, when we, the senior class or 'tCast of Thorp High School entered as a group of 65 eager Freshmen. With Mr. Korpal as our class advisor, we elected our class officers. Jim Schauer as President, David Guell, Vice President and Josephine Hmielak, Secre- tary-Treasurer. On September 26, 1952, the Sophomores made us the ofiicial members of Thorp High School, by greet- ing us with the traditional initiation party. Homecoming was the next big event with Josephine Hmielak as our selected attendant. During this year the Booster Club chose Maxine Turenne, Ruth Smigaj, and Bernice Butterfield as Junior Cheerleaders. Diane Zaborowski and Mary Ellen Pabich were elected by the class, and represented our class in the Student Council. The following fall, we became sophisticated Sophomores. With Mr. Korpal as our advisor, we elected our officers, who were Jon Pitt, President, Joan Grucelski, Vice Presidentg and Mary Ellen Pabich, Secretary-Treasurer. Jackie Hedler was chosen a Junior Cheerleader and Ann Hedler was chosen to replace Bernice Butterfield. For the Homecoming attendant, our class chose James Biser. We also won second place on our float Sailing to Victory. This year Diane Zaborowski and James Biser represented our class in the Student Council. We were also very happy to have Bernice Butterfield as high salesman for the Curtis Drive, she received the beautiful Benrus watch. We finally reached the upper-classmen step, the Jolly Juniors. As advisors, we had Mr. Witzig and Mr. Nuskiewicz to help us along with our many problems. Shortly after school started, we elected our class officers again. They were: Donald Ryniec, President, l':i James Biser, Vice President, and Jo Hmielak, Secretary-Treasurer. Dave Guell was selected as the Homecoming attendant and he chose Bernice Butterfield for his date for the dance. We won first place with our fioat Time to Beat Cadottf' Darlene Gulcynski and Bernice Butterfield, Co- editors of the Junior paper, Card Clips. The paper was issued every two weeks throughout the year. On April 19, 1955, the Juniors presented their class play entitled, The Connecticut Yankee in King Arthui-'s Court, under the capable direction of Mr. Wenninger. The Junior Prom was held April 30, 1955. The theme was April in Paris and the reigning king and queen were Donald Ryniec and Mary Ellen Pabich. This fall, we returned as the Senior Cast. The elected class officers were: Bernice Butterfield, Presi- dentg Patricia Mamayek, Vice President, and Leora Dudansky, Secretary-Treasurer5 with Mrs. Swanson as advisor. Leora Dudansky, Bernice Butterfield and Jon Pitt represented our class in the Student Council. Mitch Biser, our football captain, chose Maxine Turenne as our Homecoming Queen. The attendants were Bill Harycki and Marlene Burkhardt. Our float, We Wish You Luck won first place. The Senior play, The Curious Savage, was staged in November under the direction of Mr. Wenninger. The Girls' Prom was held on February 4. The gym was decorated to the theme of Melody of Love. Marlene Burkhardt was the king and Jean Grucelski was the queen. Throughout the year, The Cardinal Hi-lites was published in the Tho1'p Courier. The task, which was the longest, was organizing the Seniorian. Under the direction of Mr. Korpal and our editor, Bernice Butterfield, along with the staff, we have completed the task. gi' Twvl ve
