Can I switch history from seventh period to sixth period and cut out study altogether? begged another student. These were just a few common complaints that a counselor received on a typical day at Thornwood. Boring studies and extremely long school days were just some laments counselors heard. In addition to student's problems, the counselor's job is to guide stu- dents along the right road for the future, to aid students with their personal problems, help students register for college entrance exams, and even help students get jobs. Deans, on the other hand, are in charge of disciplining students when they need it, including the problem of unexplained absences and tardies. The paper Work is horrendous, one dean complained, but we have to keep up the records and try to keep students from cutting them- selves out of class. When a call slip was sent from the deans' office the most common comment from the students was busted! .sz ffz'-Nt Above Left: Contained in a section of the low- er library is an assortment of college catalogs and career pamphlets.
