Q44 Wtdfdiy Like a journey into a strange land of lakes and rivers, mountains and valleys, hamlets and big cities, is the story of the lives of the Class of l9S3 This journey brought to High School Land in l9h9 5 Freshmen from Grade School Valley, including Marlene Chambers and Gene James from Washington Township Our officers were Pres Jerrianne Craig, V Pres Eddie Castetter, Sec'y Q Treas Carol Long Mrs Cline and Mr Boyd were our sponsors We had two class parties and a spring barn dance called 'The Wagonwheel' Managing to get thmugh Freshman Village, we were given a three month rest In the fall we entered Sophomore Town From our original 35 we lost Harold Jones, Lester Martin, Beulah Pagano, Jean Johnson, Syvia Toney, and Keith Venis, but gained Deloris Krewson for a total of 31 That year our officers were Pres Gene James, V Pres Eddie Cas were Mr Owens and Mr Mack We held two class parties and a 'Dance of Hearts' honoring St Valentine We also purchased class rings and sweaters. Next year we returned to school, thrilled to be upper classmen in Junior City Our officers were Pres Bill Randel, V Pres Eddie Castetter, Sec'y Carolyn Caldwell Treas Glenn Coffman, and our sponsors were Mrs. Long and Mrs Cones We worked hard to make money for our Junior Senior trip to Turkey Run Our class play was 'Honey in the Hive , our Christmas dance was the Snow Ball Formal We sold cokes and pop corn at the games and had a bake sale During the year we lost four classmates Charles Warmoth, Dale Veach, Dudley Daniels, and Delores Krewson We gained Bob Giles and Patsy Asher which brought our total to 29 Jolly Juniors, now ready to step forward into Senior Metropolis During our last year in High School Land we lost Marlene Chambers, Bob Giles, and Zelma Osborne, but gained Harold Jones and Ruth Mullen, bringing our total to 27 Our officers are Pres Bill Randel, V Pres Sylvia Morrow, Sec'y Walter Richey, Treas Marjorie Moore Mrs Gadsin and Mr Piety are our sponsors. Although we have been busy preparing for graduation and our next trip into adult life, we have had fun at our class parties, play, and dance 'Carnival Capers' We are proud to have added another edition of 'The Exode' to the library Reluctant to leave this land where we have spent four happy andprofitable years, we are, nevertheless, eager to advance into the Land of Tomorrow, to write additional chapters in our history - . 3 tetterg Sec'y.- Carolyn Caldwellgo Treas.- Sandra Morris.. T ' We, the Seniors of Thorntown High School, realizing that we are soon to pass through the portals into the land of Tomorrow, do hereby make this our last will and testament, believing it to be the best last will and testament ever yet devised by any Senior Class iors ever to inhabit the high school, we leave our picture to remind other classes who come after us of their illustrious forebears Secondly Our footsteps in the sands of time we leave to serve as ex amples of the way in which other students should walk Thirdly and Lastly Our finger prints on the walls and in books where they should not be, we leave behind to show others that by our finger prints we shall be known I, Patsy Asher, do bequeath to all the Junior girls, Sam Cranford, just he won't become interested in one girl I, Carolyn Caldwell, do bequeath my even temper to Eva Veach, it keeps eyes from getting red I, Barbara Fisher, do bequeath my Chemistry book to anyone who can understand it I had it a whole year and it d1dn't teach me a thing He, Sandra Morris and Jerrianne Craig, do bequeath our interest in other schools to Patty Russell and Nancy Piety I, Sue Venis, do bequeath my ability to sing one of the leads in the operetta to Betty Stackman I, Ruth Mullen, do bequeath my ability to get and keep a man to Mildred Bailey I, Phyllis Cravens, do bequeath my ability to go to a ball game and watch and understand it, to all the Freshman girls I, Carol Long, do bequeath my yell leading out fit to the lucky Fresh man girl who gets to use it next year Be careful with it, it has least three more years wear in it I, Sylvia Morrow, do bequeath my studiousness to Jack Patterson, It really does help to know what you're talking about I, Max Price, do bequeath my basketball uniform No 23 to anyone who can do it justice We, Harold Jones and Gene James do bequeath our careful driving to Bill Russell and ED Price. I, Glenn Coffman, do bequeath my ability to get along with Miss Nichols to Junior Timmons. It only results in two or three yellow slipsil six weeks. I, Susie Ruckle, will my long black hair to Alma Davis. It really helps to lure men, Alma. I, Eddie Castetter, do bequeath my sister Sue to Norma Kincaid. Take care of her, Norma, when I'm not here. We, Johnnie Altum, Freeman Pollard, Eddie Woodard, and David McDonald will our ability to get along together to all the Freshman girls. Re- member girls L1nited we stand, divided we fall. I, Ronnie Gant, do bequeath my little brother Donnie to Mr. Smitley. Really, Mr. Smitley, he is a nice boy. I, Marjorie Moore, will my booth at the show to Donna Venisg that way you don't miss a thing going on uptown, I, Carol York, will my ability to be a successful 'bushwhacker' to any- one who likes an evening of entertainment.
