'1mi 1rmf 1s n 'll li ll ll THE ICXO DE '1f '1r 1r 'as 4m r' 'lf 'ir V 1 Resume of Classes The Senior Class of this year has very capably carried on the usual activities, 501116 new and some old, making a good example for future Seniors of The Thorntown High School. The Senior Lyceum, whivh was very successful, consisted of two numbers: The Apollo Duo and ul':Il10l'y Parnell, The One Man Band, booked from the Coit- Alben Bureau. The boys, desiring secret organization, organized the Moon Shine Klan' for the purpose of having more high school parties. The Senior play given the 14th and 15th of May left everyone with favorable impression of' them. The class day exercises were very enjoyable to everyone. This year's Exotic , the annual for Thorntown High School and sponsored by Seniors, has every point for a book of its kind. As for the Seniors being 'stately' they might have been, but the majority of the underclassmen did not think them superior. The Junior activities were principally for raising money for the annual Junior- Senior Banquet given by the Juniors lor the Seniors. They scratched their heads and thought of every way to make sullieieat money for this atl'air. The food market held December Zelth at Iieonomy Store helped' the Cause greatly. The Junior play, The Gypsy Trail given January 15th and lfith in High School Hall brought in some of the necessary dough. As for the Juniors being 'jolly' they always could see the bright side or everything and laughed their glooms away in making some one else happy. The Sophomores having been in High School a year were accustomed to wa s off . .. , . . ' y High School students. The remainder of T. H. S. students believe the saying Silly Sophomores is true, for in actions and bright remarks they are quite outstanding. In fall of nineteen-hundred-twenty-seven, twenty-four Green Freshmen entered the d'oors of Thorntown High School. Although quite green in some ways, they have proved to be an asset to the High School. VVhen it came time for our School Fair, the Freshmen were here with the goods for selling eats. The Seniors desiring to sell as many Exodes as possible held a contest between the four classes in High School. The two classes winning were to be entertained by two classes loosing. The Freshmen and Sophomores were the winners which were entertained by the Juniors and Seniors. January the twenty-second, nineteen-hundred-twenty-eight, fifteen incoming Fresh- men brightened the doors of T. H. S.. These seemed quite small and' Fit subjects for much initiation by the upperclassmen. However, their other Freshmen classmates proved very capable leaders for them. Although their accomplishments are not out- standing, they have proved themselves quite useful as well as ornamental. In a few enterprises all the classes in High School were represented. In Novem- ber the grade school operetta The House That Jack Built was given under able dir- ection of Miss Gauld. Several High School students took the leading roles. In March the Glee Club gave The China-Shop. Several boys were called upon to help carry it through. Mrs. Hart d'id the accompanying and Miss Gauld the directing. During the year several students have withdrawn to assume new duties. They were: Nellie Meek, Caroline Lewis, Grave DeFord, VVilliam Schmidt, Walter Leach, Merle Gentry, Clarence Martin and VVayne Landing. Two -of our high school girls have taken the marriage vows. They are Elsie Sisson and Francis Jones Coffman. There were two girls who came to our school from Lebanon filling the other vacancies. They were Bessie Jewel Lancaster and Gladys Lancaster. The Freshman class had another added to its number when Hazel Williams came from the Marshall school. By Leanna Beesley, T. H. S. '29. TWENTY-FOUR
