GUY PHILLIPS This, the thirty-first edition of the THORNTONITE, is dedicated to Mr. Guy Phillips, Head of the Mathe- matics Department at Thornton, and a member of the faculty since 1923. Mr. Phillips has inspired many students, through his influence he has become a part of Thornton's tradition and history. He has never taught a mathe- matical principle without applying it, or an ethical one without living it.
