A willing listener to students who seek his help. Seller refers students with more difficult problems to a counselor. Seller is well versed in the area of computers and is continually helping students tackle jobs at the terminal. In addition, Seller has been actively involved with the Spirit Squad for the last four years because it is exciting and something a little different. I try to treat students as equals,” states Seller. This attitude makes Seller a real asset to Thornton High School. I X Mac Donnell has taught W I » English at SI Thornton for two Jp- ' lk years. She describes her tcachcr student relationships as, human to human, but I realize I am still the teacher and a role model. Ms. Mac Donnell encourages students to come to her about their problems. I will try and help with any problem the student might have, but llicrc arc times when I have to either get additional help; like counseling and times when there’s nothing I can do, but listen, she explained. Ms. MacDonncll makes many oilier contributions to the school. She has been involved in coaching the girls softball team and girls basketball. She has also been involved in Knowledge Bowl, All-Stars, and in Athletic Leadership Training. She is involved in all of these things, because I love kids concluded MacDonncll. ill Miles has been a social studic s teacher at Thornton for ten years. Miles enjoys teaching. I leach kids. I’m more student oriented. I try to make class fun.so they enjoy going to class, suited Miles. Mr. Miles likes the idea of students coming and talking to him about their problems, and he feels qualified to listen and to help them. The main thing is that students actually just want someone to listen and they feel free to Uilk to me, explained Miles. Mr. Miles has coached track ever since lie’s been here at Thornton. With twenty five years experience coaching softball. Miles was the new girls Softball team coach. Miles has also been involved in the T-Club for five years. Mr. Miles’ altitude towards students, his sense of humor, and his caring ways makes Thornton proud to have a teacher like him. 68
