I by Rhonda Bethea Yvonne Camara, campus supervisor, monitors the progress of 35 students at Thornton.These students have a history of attendance and academic problems. Her job as a shadow is to make sure these students attend their classes. You'll never know when I'll be there. warns Camara. But when I'm there, you'd better be there! Camara also stresses the importance of participating in class to these studcnts. I realize that sometimes these kids will go to class and just take up space. admitted Camara. However, by having the students turn in progress reports they realize where they stand grade wise, and what they need to do to pass. Many students benefit from the shadow program others do not, and have to withdraw. But that's not the idea of the shadow program.
