Would You Leave Your Car Alone By Cindy Cornell Are the parking lots at Thornton good enough for your car? Many students have many different opinions. Some feel that the parking lots just aren’t safe enough for their cars. When one enters the parking lots they tend to slow down so that the pot holes, which can’t be missed, don't bend their wheels. Pot holes are very expensive to get filled, and we don't exactly have a personal budget for the parking lot. stated Dean, Bette Caricato. Any student that wishes to park in any of the parking lots must have a parking slicker. The stickers cost $.75 per car for the whole year, which doesn’t leave too big of a budget for the parking lot. The stickers are used for many different reasons. One is so that when a student leaves their headlights or parking lights on they can be notified much easier then if they didn't have a parking sticker. Another reason for the sticker is to keep juniors out of the senior parking lot, with the sticker it is easier to recognize whether or not a student is a junior or a senior. The stickers also cut down on some of the car thefts. It is easier to detect whether or not a person is from Thornton when they pull into the parking lot if they have sticker, so people who are not suppose to be here such as thieves will not be permitted into the lot. When you think about it the parking lots are a privilege and shoul be treated like it. There are many schools that do not offer student parking, fortunately ours does. It's a parking lot, and it's better than walking across the street. concludec junior, Chris Benjamin.
