Fifteen Students Gain Honors Fifteen students from Thornton High won certificates and medals at the District Future Business Leaders of America Leadership Conference on January 18 at Mapleton High School. Winners were: Annette Hickins, 1st place, Stenographer I; Tanya Morgan, 2nd place, Job Interview; Rene Vecka, 2nd place, Accounting II; Larry Weigand, 2nd place, Business Law; Lisa Perry, 3rd place, Business Communications; Mary Geeson, 3rd place, Clerk Typist I; Jody Cummins, 3rd place, Stenogra- pher I; Annette Valdez, Michelle Mondragon, 4th place, Poster; Verna McKennon, 5th place Business Communications; Letty Miller, 5th place, Office Procedures; Claudia Holder, 5th place, Filing; Krystal Hanner, 5th place, General Business; Annette Valdez, 5th place, Miss FBLA; Margo Moore, 5th place, Stenographer II; Six students placed high enough in their competitions to go on and compete at the State Conference in March at the Broadmoor Hotel, Colorado Springs. Each year many students join FBLA. Fbla is for business students to help promote leadership, service responsibility, personal growth, community involvement and to increase business skills. It is also an essential par tof the Vocational program.
