Our first and last convocation in the Thornton auditorium featured Doraine and Ellis in a cos- tumed cavalcade of Broadway's greatest musical hits. CONVOCATION THEN... One convocation was held in the junior college auditorium before the century-old structure under- went the most extensive face-lifting in the history of TjJGe When completed, the new auditorium will seat 1,600 instead of 770 as before. The new auditorium will be almost twice as deep as the old auditorium and will have about the same width. The only fall convocation featured Doraine and Ellis in one of the most unusual pop concerts ever presented at TJC. Doraine and Ellis contended that the great American composers had created a definite musical art form with musical comedies. A special convocation was held during the spring semester at Thornridge High School in the evening. The program featured Charles W. Clabaugh, well known in education and government circles in Illinois, who presented excellent color films of North Canada's bush country in both summer and winter, as well as a film of historic eastern Canada. Mr. Clabaugh's humorous, entertaining, and factual commentaries made him an ideal specaker for a TJC convocation. It'll be a long season, forecasted Schloss, but if | can mold these fellows into a working unit we'll finish the season with a respectable season record. Thornton finished the season with a 3-4-1 record overall and were in fourth place in the Northern Illinois Junior College conference, posting a 2-3-1 standard.
