LAMBDA EPSILON Back Row: Bob Titus, Dieter Meister, Frank Nuessel, Wayne Tellis Front Row: Carl Lindstrom, Judy Lambert, Lorraine Moore, Shirley Maina Lambda Epsilon, the Thornton Junior College Scholastic Honor Society, was organ- ized in the spring of 1939 for the purpose of encouraging scholarship by according recognition to those whose scholastic achievements are of a high order. Members are elected into the society purely on the basis of their scholarship, and no weight is given to popularity, leadership, or extra curricular activities. Students are elected as soon as they have proved their scholarship. This may occur either in the freshman or sopho- more year or after the student's graduation, in the case of alumni members. The motto of Lambda Epsilon, Lux Esto, or Let there be light, is indicative of the enlightenment and knowledge upon which civilization and progress depend. It is toward this objective that the Honor Society is dedicated. This year's officers are Carl Lindstrom, president; Judith Lambert, vice-president; and Orrell G. Kauffman, secretary-treasurer. 26
