Mr. John A. Peterson A few months into the first semester of the school year, Mr. J. A. Peterson showed his true value as he took over the position of business manager of Thornton Township High School and Junior College, succeeding Dr. Charles W. Foster. Because of the increased responsibilities, he had to give up his history and political science classes. Mr. Peterson received his B. A. at De Pauw University and his M. S. at University of Indiana. Mr. Arnold F. Koester Listening to students’ problems, teaching psy- chology and German, sponsoring the German club, coaching the baseball team, being secretary-treas- urer of I. J. C. C., chaperoning at activities, dances, etc., and simply taking an interest in the college in general, Mr. Arnold F. Koester is truly one of the most industrious men at T. J. C. He received his B. A. degree from University of Iowa and his M. A. degree from University of South Dakota. In addition to his teaching duties he is di- rector of student personnel. Miss Grace Holton Another busy person here at T. J. C. is Miss Grace Holton, who devotes her time to many, many activities. Among them are counseling the women, sponsoring the Co-ed club, co-sponsoring the Stu- dent Council, and serving as instructor in the English department. Since Miss Holton is dean of women, her ready assistance is known to practically every co-ed at lel es She received her B. A. and M. A. degrees from Duke University. Miss Doris A. Halverson Those people who use the library find that it can be used most profitably with the help of the librarian, Miss Doris A. Halverson. Many details of the library were explained this year by her own Library Handbook. Her personal, friendly assistance was still necessary at certain times, particularly with term papers, reserve books, and foreign newspapers. She received her B. A. from Macalaster College and her B. L. S. from Drexel Institute.

Dr. Ernest M. Hanson The office of superintendent at Thornton Township High School and Junior College is filled quite capably by Dr. Ernest M. Hanson this year, as it has been for the previous three years. He earned his B. S. and M. A. de- grees at the University of Minnesota and his Ed. D. at Colorado State College of Education. He put his knowledge of education into action as superintendent of schools in Min- nesota, Utah, and Colorado before coming to Thornton. Dean James L. Beck Besides his A. B. and B. S. degrees in Education from Ohio University, and M. A. degree from University of Chicago, Dean James L. Beck is noted for his high degree of under- standing, guidance, friendship, and wit. Smoothly managing the problems of Thornton Junior College, Dean Beck is well thought of by those in attendance at T. J. C—faculty and students as well.
