The first hoop encounter that the Academy had, started off what was to be one of the best basketball seasons that Thornton has had for quite a few years. Five well trained men, and some very good reserves, came through with a decisive win of 45 to 31 over the Alumni group. This showed that if they could win against a strong team like that, they could also win from other teams equally as strong. Utilizing the knowledge gained from their apt coach, R.
