Uliashion was a state of mind. If you believed you were fashionable you were no matter what the masses were wearing, said Denise James, senior. During a typical school day, words such as chill for its opposite ill i, lamo, and vogue could be heard. It seemed as if a fourth foreign lan- guage had been added to the curricu- lum. I used slang to spruce up stan- dard English. It added life to day-to-day language, said Elbert I-Ienley, junior. 1987 was the year of the comeback when it came to music. Thanks to MTV, the Monkees became a household word once again.
