Guys enjoy hobbies as Coin, Chess Clubs meet Coin Club provides students with a means of exchanging ideas and knowl- edge about their favorite subject - coins. With hopes of improving their collec- tions, each member trades, evaluates and learns the origins of his coins. Chess Club meets regularly to prepare for matches against themselves and local high schools. Mr. Learch, advisor, was always available to settle disputes con- cerning game rules. AV, PST work toward technical know-how When classwork fails to hold your in- terest, you might like to trade places with Audio-Visual members free-wheel- ing equipment in TR's hallways. AV members deliver projectors and other equipment to classrooms. AV is not only a service organization but a technical club also. Members explore the mechan- ics of AV equipment through basic re- pairs and replacements. Camera enthusiasts find their niche in Photographic Society of Thornridge. Besides learning camera techniques, PST members took pictures of couples at Dad-Daughter Play Night. PST is spon- sored by Mr. Mueller. FTA tutor, brighten homecoming FTA's main purpose is to help its members find out more about teaching before college. Doing actual teaching, grading papers, observing teaching methods, and obtaining classroom expe- rience, its members tutor in the various grammar schools in District 149. FTA's rnost important activity is Treasurama, an arts, crafts, and antique show and sale. Local individuals exhibit their goods, and the proceeds go toward a scholarship which is awarded each year to the senior who has done the most out- standing worlc and made the rnost effec- tive contribution to the club. l3TA's oth- er activities include the Balloon Blast and the Mum Sale, which take place during the Homecoming weekend.
