Oliver breaks record in dash , Banks, Cunningham district champs TR's varsity track team had a fine sea- son, finishing fifth in the district and third in the league. Ron Oliver qualified for state competition in the 120-yard high hurdles and 200-yard dash. The time of 14.1 in the dash broke a school record and was second fastest in the state. Grantlin Banks captured the District Discus title and holds the school record. Milt Wilkerson advanced to the semi- finals of state shot-put competition. He also holds the school record. John Cun- ningham was District Long-Jump Champ and finished tenth in state competition. The freshman track team was undefeated. Above left: Tom Galen leads his opponent with Ieff Hall not far behind. Changes expand girls swimming This year under National Federation Rules, several new events were swum. Besides the new events many of the dist- ances became longer. Coached by Mrs. Betty Bergstrom and Mrs. Lynn Jones, the girls finished with a successful 6-2 record. Another new event in girls swimming was the State-wide Invitational Swim Meet.
