Girls basketball tie for second place in SICA Led by a new coach, Miss Kathy Lew- is, TR's varsity girls basketball team placed second in the SICA-North Con- ference with a record of 6 wins and 4 losses. Their overall record was 8-6. B team, coached by Miss Evelyn White, also a new coach, did not fare quite as well as their A team counter- parts Their conference record stood at 2- 8, with a total record of 3-10. TR spirit roused up by Cheerleaders Cheerleading is not just shouting and clapping hands. Coached by Miss Mich- elle Anders and Mrs. Julie Austin, the cheerleaders won first place for home- coming decorations, sponsored car wash- es to raise money for uniforms, and formed a freshman squad to cheer for interscholastic sports. The three squads, led by Gloria Whit- tington, captain, and Sandy Wolff, co- captain, helped arrange projects to pro- mote spirit. Hall decorations, posters, pins and buttons, and preparations of pep assemblies are only a part of cheer- leading. They must also have the ability to support a winning or losing team with a constant hope for victory.
