Although the varsity was victorious in their first four meets, their record for the season was 2-11. Only one of those first four wins stood up against the ll-'ISA rules committee, as diver Gary Mastey was admonished for receiving instruc- tions during the previous summer. Thornridge was forced to forfeit each meet in which Mastey had appeared, un- til the time the infraction was discovered. The varsity placed sixth in league com- petition. The sophomore team, having no such controversy interrupting their concentration, finished their season with a better 6-6 record and a fifth place finish in league.
