Silver Milestones of '46 Class History In the year of n1neteen hundred and thirty four a group of eleven first graders assembled m the Primary Room of Thornburg Consolidated School to begin their educatlon As they trudged down the hall and 1nto this room with shmmg faces and perhaps an apple for the teacher little d1d they think of the fact tha they were originating the Thornburg High Senior Class of 46 The begmn1ng class consisted of L1ll1an Jean Adams Roscoe Albrlghton Betts Lu Allar Chester Edmundson Norma Hermanstarfer Robert Molyneux Roger Mullen Helyne RODIDSOD Zelma Stanley B1lly Trager and Vernon Wilson Of this class two members are now in the present or1g1nal class They are Roger Mullen and Vernon Wilson In the second grade Lawrence Bos and David Sparrow Joined our number and later ln the year Marvel Leola Johannes was also a member However we lost L1ll lan Jean Adams Roscoe Albrlghton and Norma Hermanstarfer At the opening of the third grade Tom Orr Audrey Wells and Marilyn Cranston reglstered for class but Bill Trager Marvel Leola Johannes David Sparrow Helyne Robinson and Zelma Stanley were not present Marllyn was with us only until the first of March when her parents moved from the community With the first three years of grade school beh1nd us the fourth grade loomed ahead of us as another m1lestone to be conquered We m1ssed Chester Edmondson from our number At the beginning of the class this year were Loise Jean Merry field Don Morrxson Marvin Douglas Billy Trager Ronald Douglas and Phyllis Wodsworth Phyllis was only w1th us the first SIX weeks Proceeding onward to the fifth grade we find Bllly Trager Marvin Douglas and Donald Douglas no longer in our class but a new member Louie Souer who has continued 1n the class to also graduate this year Sixth grade roll call found Donovan Nanke in our m dst along with the mem bers of the last years class Advancing into the Junior I-hgh proved to be an interesting and exciting exper xence for We took our places in the upstalrs assembly The class then had the follow mg members Betty Lu Allar Lawrence Bos Lolse Jean Merryheld Robert M05 neux Don Morrison Roger Mullen Tom Orr Louie Souer Vernon Wllson and Donovan Nanke Betty Lu Allar left us in March of ou1 seventh year and in the eighth grade we With the beginning of another September in 1942 the eight boys and one girl from the eighth grade graduating class Hled in the assembly to find six more Creen Fresh es ready to Jo n the class The six new members were Marlvs Merck Hazel Kltzman Betty Sprague Lois Keller Harold Tuttle Laverne Erteld and later in the year Darlene Coats was also a member of the class Beginning our sophomore year Darlene Coats was no longer with us but we had a new member Robert Bowers During the same year we lost Willard Holmes Don Morrison and Laverne Erteld Bob Snodgrass Joined the class dur ng the year Back once again as Juniors we found Lois Jean Merryfield and Bob Snodvia s l'TllSSlI'lg lrom the roll but otherwise the class was the same The long awaited t me had arrived at last we were Seniors' ' ' l Max ne Homan Jo ned our group but we missed Harold Tuttle who had Jo ned the Marines a ter school was out the year be ore lt was possible later hat he could Jo n us again dui ing the second semester And so comes the end of the history of the graduating class of nmeteen hun dred and forty six and another class has been provided xx th one Ol th lm t cclu cat ons poss ble in the var ous cla siooms of Ihornl urg Con ol datcd School O - ' 9 . ll 77 ' ' ' A. , t . . . . , Y Y s , D , . , l , - Y 1 . . ?
