EXECUTIVE OFFICER LCDR Scott Chapman, a native of Alexan- dria, VA, graduated from the Naval Acade- my in 1986. He served as MPA in USS McCLOY IFF 10381, from February 1987 through February 1989. From February 1989 to December 1990, he served as Assistant Operations Officer in USS CONOLLY IDD 9791. He earned a Masters Degree in Manage- ment in September 1992 from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA. From July 1993 until February 1995, LCDR Chapman served as Chief Engineer in USS ESTOCIN IFFG 151. After completing the PCO pipeline and a tour as Assistant Sur- face Operations Officer on the Theodore Roosevelt Battlegroup Staff, he assumed command of USS TYPHOON IPC 51 in October 1995. During his tour TYPHOON won the Battle enjoyed a 10006 reten- tion rate. TYPHOON completed three JTFXCOMPTUEX exercises and two EUSOC Special Warfare Exercises in the North Atlantic. TYPHOON deployed from June - December 1996 to Central and South America in support of U.S. Southern Command to include three months with the UNITAS Battle Group, two months with JIATF-East, JIATF-West and GANTSEC conducting Counter Drug Ops in the Caribbean and Pacific, and two months as Naval Special Warfare Task Group Com- mander in support of U.S. State Depart- ment! OSD Joint Combined Exercises for Training with the Honduran Navy. After a Change of Command in June 1997, LCDR Chapman transferred to the Naval War College where he received a Masters Degree in National Security Strategy and Decision-Making in June 1998. LCDR Chapman served on the staff of the Chief of Naval Personnel ICNO IN111 from July 1998 until July 2000 as the Surface Operations Ratings Enlisted Community Manager, GENDET ECM, and the Officer Manpower Subspecialty primary advisor. He assumed duties as Executive Officer, USS THORN IDD 9881 in November 2000. His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commen- dation Medal Itwo awards1, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal Ifour awards1, and various unit and campaign awards. LCDR Chapman is married to LCDR Sharon R. Chapman, SC, USN of Fairfield, CT. They are the proud parents of two ter- rific sons.

COMMANDING OFFICER Commander Pope is a native of Mobile, Alabama and graduated from Alabama State University in Montgomery, AL in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. He was commissioned through Officer Candidate School, Newport Rhode Island in April 1982. Commander Pope's sea duty include assignment as Damage Control Assistant, Chief Engineer and Executive Officer in,USS FIDELITY IMSO-4431, Fire Control Officer in USS SCOTT IDDG-9951, Chief Engineer in USS FAHRION CFFG-221, Chief Staff Officer, Commander, Mine Counter Measures Group Three, and Executive Officer in USS ARTHUR W. RADFORD IDD-9681. Ashore, Commander Pope attended the Naval Postgraduate School Monterey, CA, Naval War College Newport, RI, served on the staff of Commander, Mine Counter Measures Squadron Two as Safety Officer and staff of the Chief of Naval Operations CNSGJ as Engineering Readiness and Training Action Officer, Commander Pope's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal ftwo awardsl, Navy Commendation Medal lthree awardsl, Navy Achievement Medal and Army Good Conduct Medal.
