Senior Class Mistory On the first day of September, nineteen-hundred and fifty-five, fourteen Freshmen entered YCHS. They were Ruth Bielema, Richard Groharing, Dina Durward, Robert Green, Bernard Groharing, Richard Hook, Babbette McGinty, Linda Noordhoff, Larry Atherton, Jeannette Carroll, Jerry Rice, Lester Roberts, and Pat Rose. During the year we were joined by Harrietta Fenley. This year we were initiated by the Upper Class-men. We also sponsored a Levi Leap record dance in February. Mr. Cross was our advisor. As our Sophomore year began, we had 13 students, having lost Harrietta Fenley and Jerry Rice. It soon decreased to 11 when Bernard and Richard left to attend school in Missouri. Our advisor was Mr. pease. We sponsored a Sock Hop in November for the student body. As we entered our Junior year, Larry Atherton left us while Richard Groharing and Carolyn Whitney joined us to give us a total of 11 students. Later, Charles Cravatta joined us. Our Junior year proved to be very busy. We published the school paper the Yorkster. Mr. Chipman, our advisor, helped us to plan and carry out the theme Showboat for our prom. To make money for the Prom, we sold refreshments at the basketball games and had a car wash. We presented the play. Take Your Medicine, which was enjoyed by all. At Valentine's Day we sponsored a dance after the basketball game. As a remembrance of our high school days, as Juniors, we received our class rings. As we began our Senior year with 12 Seniors, we all looked forward to graduation this year. Pat Rose left our class during the year and Jim Libberton joined us to give us a total of 11 students. This year we sponsored the Freshman Reception and the Sand Burr, our annual. We gave a very successful play, Call Me Darling, in the fall. Baccalaureate service was held on May 24, 1959 and Commencement on May 27, 1959. This closed the book of our high school days, but opened the book of life to us. Senior Class Prophecy In the year 1970 as I was preparing for my first trip to the moon I glanced at the list of crew members given to me by the travel agency. I recognized the pilot as Charlie Cravatta who had graduated from flying around in his Chevy to blasting off in rockets to the moon. I was informed by the tour guide, Linda Noordhoff, that a former classmate of ours Robert Green had developed the special food holder downer which aided one while eating on the rocket. The stewardess would be Carolyn Whitney Hubble and the rocket nurses Jeannette Carroll and Dina Durward. As I said goodbye to my earth friends and took my train to Cape Canaveral I passed a large farm owned and operated by Dick Hook, the millionaire farmer. Babs McGinty, now the famous owner of all Dari Delites, appeared on the back cover of a well-known magazine. She was advertising her famous product. Leaving the train I noticed a businessman hurrying to make a connection. It was Jim Libberton who had been in my Senior class. As I was checking my reservation with the clerk, who turned out to be an old friend and classmate, Ruthie Bielema, I began to feel a little squeamish about leaving earth and all my friends.
