I --5 X CLASS HISTORY fcontxnuedj Soon the time came for us to begin the annual play It was entitled Wildcat Willie in the Doghouse Everyone in the class took part At this time another member of our class Vernon McCormick answered Uncle Sam s call We were soon given the honor of selecting our rings This was a big thrill to all of us With the departure of Wayne Burman who went into the army we closed our Junior activities Ascending the last of the four great steps we found ourselves filing alphabetically into the senior room We made four new acquaintances from Starrucca namely Clair Brooker Don Brownell Douglas Glover and Harry Travis They helped make our activities in class anything but dull We settled down the first day and looked for old faces Two were missing those of Richard Slick the humorrst of our class and Raymond Avery Then we found time to select officers they were Vice President Duane Silver Secretary Douglas Glover Treasurer Arlene Curtis Sponsor Miss Saxton We sponsored a party to initiate the new class members and our four new teachers who are Miss Peck Mrs Taylor Miss Coar and Mr Leet We then began our work on the senior play our last chance we thought to show our acting ability The play was entitled AUNT SA MANTHY RULES THE BOOST Under the direction of Miss Saxton and Miss Coar it was a great success In lanuary we were proudly wearing our class rings Since our funds were low we sponsored school lunches to raise funds for our trip to Washington. This proved very successful and we had a great deal of fun doing it. In the midst of our other duties we began work on our year book. Soon we were informed that one of our new classmates Harry Travis had left us. At last the eventful day has come! As we march down the aisle to receive our diplomas as we break apart each to his own duties we begin to realize what our education has meant to us. And so ends the story of the four long steps leading the Class of 46 to the outside world from the doors of Thompson High.
