BEN AMES WlI-LlAlX1S, JR. President of the Board of Trustees At the 134th annual meeting of the Board of Trustees of Thompson Academy, Mr. Ben Ames Williams, Jr. was electea' President. Mr. Williams succeeds Mr. Calvin Page Bartlett wlzo was elected Chairman of the Corporation after 24 years of dedicated service to the school. Mr. Williams was recently elected President of the Old Colony Trust Com- pany, an allied institution of the First National Bank of Boston. He has been associated with the First since 1941. Our new President has been a Trustee of Thompson Academy for eight years and for the past three he has served as Vice President. All of us on the island wish Mr. Williams well and hope tlzat lze will hnd his new position as President of the Board a rewarding experience.

CALVIN PAGE BARTLETT Chairman ofthe Corporation Calvin Page Bartlett, outstanding lawyer with the frm of Hill 62 Barlow in Boston, became a Trustee of the Academy in 1944. From 1951 to 1968 he served as President of tlze Board and recently has moved to the position of Chair- man of the Corporation following the election of Mr. Williams as President. During Mr. Bartlett's long tenure as President he asserted the leadership which brought about a great many changes in tlze physical plant and academic life of the school: the addition of the Alumni Gymnasium, the new Dormitory, and the new Faculty Houseq the remodeling and renovation of the Main Building, the Kitchen-Dining Room area, and the Science Laboratoriesg and the conversion of the old Gymnasium to the present Chapel. The Students, Faculty and Stall of the Academy wish to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to Mr. Bartlett for his many years of enthusiastic and devoted support in helping to bring about tlzese important advances.
