“
In a small town such as Thomaston, it is easy to make many friends. The ones that will influence us the most are the ones that mean the most to us. From these friends we learn truth, trust, and much more. Now when we break the ties of security within our sheltered community, we must go into the world and make new friendships that will teach us even more. Best of Luck always to the class of 1978. 2 We. the senior class, dedicate our yearbook to a man who has earned our respect through his help and guidance. He has shared in our memories and will always be an influence in our lives. That is why we dedicate our yearbook with appreciation and pride to Mr. Pasquariello. 3 P(Wfiw(4............................................2 De bcotowi .........................................2 SghKws..............................................5 .....................................39 A Wefes............................................51 O o ofewiS.........................................71 Ue Mte$..........................................37 Pacufty oW Ac! tiwXrt at ........................97 CfmsM.............................................101 Michelle C. As we walk down this hall it is full of light, we are protected, sheltered from the outside world, we see a door and as we get nearer the door begins to open, but it opens into darkness and the outside world. And as we keep walking it opens wider and wider, soon we will be on our own. no longer protected. Then suddenly we will be outside that door looking back as the door slowly closes, knowing we will never get back inside. We, the class of 1978, have shared the joys of class activities and the anxieties of exams, and have helped one another to accomplish tasks which have led us to greater friendship and satisfaction. The four years, now coming to an end, have taught us many lessons which we will carry with us. We are going into different directions; and in many instances, we will take paths that lead us far from here. Our memories, however, tucked away in the once foreign halls of T.H.S., are a part of us that cannot be forgotten. So, as we close the doors behind us, we now take a step forward and open new doors, to find new horizons, and to add more memories to the foundations we have built at Thomaston High School. What you do. do well; give all people an equal chance; find your place in life; and above all strive to be happy. This is a goodnight, buy not a goodbye. With best wishes of success in all you do. 37 Debbie Grigoraitis Vice-President 38 01 0 ’ has his day, andsoMb days hst o t{u ivoHms.’, — Ciuji tctu®!' 39 Row 1: Delliber, K„ Bartosiewicz, D.. Many of you have made excellent achievement in your endeavors during your high school years. As alumni you will be among many whose work in higher education and careers has brought honor to themselves and to their high school. You are held in high esteem for numerous reasons, among them being three traits shared by your predecessors over these many years: good preparation, high aims and the perseverance to attain them. As Thomaston High School graduates, the days ahead will be challenges, full of surprises, happiness, sadness — the entire variety of life's experiences. It’s a time for looking back, and a time for looking ahead! Dr. Marvin H. Yaffe Superintendent of Schools Ptutcipol's The issue of rights dominates the headlines. All of us read and hear about these rights such as: Human Rights. Civil Rights, Equal Rights. Worker’s Rights. Children’s Rights. Victim’s Rights. Criminal's Rights, etc. Folks are claiming special rights to improve their situations. All these rights are related to free choice and human dignity. A right is defined as “a just and proper claim.” Voltaire stated, “I disapprove of what you say or do or are, but I will defend to the courts your right to say or do or be it, any time or place. The latter sounds reasonable and tolerant. However, is it really valid and is everything promoted as a right really right? In studying this subject of rights you may conclude that rights cannot stand alone nor depend upon individual preference. For example, the ownership of private property versus the power of eminent domain, indicates that rights may not always cover as much as we think. Do rights concern the way each of us may expect to be treated by others and the way each of us must treat others? Do rights and responsibility go together? Some answers to the RIGHTS questions may be found in the Virginia Bill of Rights, Section 15: . . No free government, or the blessing of liberty, can be preserved to any people but by a firm adherence to justice, moderation, temperance, frugality, and virtue, and by frequent recurrence to fundamental principles.” Each of you in the graduating CLASS of 1978 will be facing more and more this subject of RIGHTS. May your future be filled with receiving your rights and accepting your responsibilities. Take pride in accomplishing your assignments and your goals. Be positive and practice the Golden Rule. I wish you happiness and good fortune. 99 Herbert W. DeVeber Principal 100 n A Thomaston motors, Inc. 64 NORTH MAIN STREET THOMASTON. CONNECTICUT 06787 OFFICE - 283-4123 DONALD 1.
