My dear friends, With the following few lines, I want to express my thankfulness to all of you, since you helped me to have- a very enjoyable and experience-full year here at Thomaston. I have got a very good image of what the Americans are like, their way of thinking, working and associating. The same I hope you of Germany even if you have not been there. I probably won’t realize as much as I will later how much worth this year really was, since so much influenced myself. One of the most valuable experiences of these ten months was certainly that I could get to know so many of you and by doing so I learned to understand you better and to associate with anyone of you, not only with those whose interests matched mine. To all of you I want to say “Danke schon”, that you made my stay a very happy and interesting one. Also thank you to all the teachers, who spent often, time on helping me to get along with my school work and to fit into the school life in general. I thought of America as a beautiful, rich, and free country; and as I leave now I know that all of these characteristics are true. My greatest wish, which I hope to come true, is to come back to the States and to continue my life here. And if this happens, I should be glad to meet you again, since all of you are my friends. I will miss you and my whole community here, but I will keep in touch with you in my letters I will send you after I am back home. So, with my best wishes for the future, to all of you and to your country, and may you be rewarded for all your friendliness. God bless you all. Andreas Ulrich
