Led by Terri Warren, Wanda Walton and Janice Wiley, the team finish- ed with an impressive second place conference standing. ln volleyball competition, Debbie johnson, Mary Lynn Morris and Val Pinnix put together a winning combination to record a runnerup finish in the conference. Val Pinnix proved outstanding again in track. Val set a high jump record of 47l0'7, a broad jump record of l7'7 and par- ticipated on the state's second best 880 relay team. Another member of the 880 relay team was Candy Clark, who also gained a second in the conferenccis l00 yard dash. The mile relay team was strong in their third place state finish as a result of Candyis participation. Relay teams were great and the 4-Ll-0 relay team was no exception because of Betty Bambalis. A second place low hurdles conference finish was another of Betty 's accomplish- ments. Individuals make up a team and the C.A.A. track team got it together for a third place performance in both the conference and state meets. Although the tennis team advanced no one to the state playoffs, three girls did enjoy a good season. Susan Craven was outstanding in singles competition with Sheila lnman and Terri Turner turning in impressive doubles performances. The team finished as North Carolina's 14th best group in a field of the stateis best young golf talent. Robin Rice and Jimmy Ivey, possible college golf pros- pects, led the Andrews team by posting stroke averages ol' 73 and 74- respectively. Ricky liriley, with a stroke average of 76, and Breck Culler, with a 75, also added overall strength to the team.
